WHAT IS 1% FOR THE PLANET?

1% for the Planet is a global organization that exists to ensure our planet and future generations thrive. They inspire businesses and individuals to support environmental nonprofits through membership and everyday actions. They make environmental giving easy and effective through partnership advising, impact storytelling, and third-party certification.

Started in 2002 by Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, founder of Blue Ribbon Flies, business members like us and individual members have given hundreds of millions of dollars to their approved nonprofit partners to date. Today, 1% for the Planet’s global network consists of thousands of businesses, individuals, and environmental nonprofits working toward a better future for all.

HIGH BANK’S COMMITMENT

We are committed to giving at least 1% of our total revenue from our restaurants and distillery, back to local and national partners that support sustaining the planet. Being in the spirits producer (specifically whiskey), there is a massive shortage of white oak in the United States due in part to the booming whiskey industry. In addition to donating money, we feel it’s our duty to do our part and plant as many trees as possible to offset our carbon footprint as a leader in the Ohio distilling industry.

OUR LOCAL PARTNER

Friends of the Lower Olentangy Watershed

In addition to monetary giving, we are dedicated to volunteering and planting trees in our local community through our partnership with Friends of the Lower Olentangy Watershed. To join our efforts or to get more information on FLOW, please visit their website HERE.

OUR NATIONAL PARTNER

In addition to financial donations, in 2021 we were able to plant 1,545 trees in the month of April alone for our Earth Day “Buy a Bottle of Whiskey War and Plant a Tree” campaign.
